Our first activity beginning our trip, the Alaskan Wildlife Conservation Center. This center is a non-profit that rescues animals that are physically injured or “orphans” and provides a permanent home for them. An instructor of AWCC, gave us a tour of the whole center. They had told us about some of the animals and their sad stories for why they were placed with them. For example, he told us that the 5 year old black bears mom used to eat out of the dumpster, he called her a “dumpster diva”. One day a dog scared the momma bear out of the dumpster and left her cub, which is now the 5 year old black bear at AWCC. We also tried to go river rafting on the Kenai River but the wind was too strong for the instructors to guide us, so we will have to go another day.
